Backup Server on Backup Proxy or Backup Repository

Post by uris.chan »

Hi,

I have dedicated a VM (Windows 2012 R2, 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, can be further increased) and a physical server (4 cores, 8 GB RAM, Windows 2012R2 Storage Server Workgroup) for Veeam.

The plan is to use the physical server as the backup repository (along with a USB dock for removable drives) and to use the VM as a backup proxy (the physical server has no direct SAN connectivity). Network connectivity between VM and backup proxy is 1 Gbps and the total size is around 5-7 TB.

In this scenario, does it matter where do I place the Backup Server? Is it recommended to be on the VM or the physical server?

Also, will LACP help data movers between the backup proxy and the backup repository?

Thanks,
Uris

Sounds good.

Please take a look at this article.

Please check this topic and feel free ask additional questions.

Thank you.
