Hi!
I am having a hard time to calculate some backup space estimate for SQL server VM in Hyper-V.
Total size for VM itself is around 3TB, there are couple of SQL instances inside and most of SQL databases (total of ~60) are also needed to do regular SQL log backup.
Currently with another backup software, there are kept 30 restore points, log backup is done with an interval of 2 hours and one full backup by daily.
Can anybody give me some guidance, how to estimate the backup space needed for this VM?

Re: Backup space estimate for SQL server VM
Hi,
Our fellow engineer has created this tool which can give you some estimate on how much space the backup will take.
Space required for logs per day can be roughly weighted if you know how much of transaction log the VM produces in 2 hours (12 two-hour intervals x N MB of logs).
Thanks!
