Hey,
we´re testing Backup (Veeam 8 Patch 2) with Storage Integration (NetApp 7 Mode with FlexClone Licence) and without storage integration.
The Backup with storage integration run 30 % more time as without storage integration.
Is this normal?

Re: Backup takes longer with NetAPP storage integration
Lukas, what operations in the job session log take most of the time (and what operations take longer comparing to backup without storage integration)? What are the bottleneck stats for the job?

Re: Backup takes longer with NetAPP storage integration
If the change rate and vVM count is low it can be faster to process the VMs without storage integration.
Storage integration was built for VMs with huge change rates to get rid of long ugly VM Snapshot commits.
However there are several tuning possibilities. We need more informations.
Ontap Version. NFS, iSCSI or FC
iSCSI license present in the Netapp filer?
+ the informations reqested by Alexander

Re: Backup takes longer with NetAPP storage integration
Hey,
I can not identify any precise point which runs a long time.
By the backups with snapshot integration, the first data transfer start to the target system after 11 minutes.
For backups without Storage Integration the data transferred startet to the target storage after 5 minutes.
NetApp-Version: 8.2.3 (p3)
We use only FibreChannel. NetApp Flexclone is active.
Bottlenecks shows source.
regards

Re: Backup takes longer with NetAPP storage integration
Thanks for your details.
As Andreas already wrote in some cases it could happen that backup without storage integration is faster.
As you are using FC as primary protocol the mount will take some time until the backup transfer starts.
Is it just the time until the backup trasfer starts or do you see any speed difference as well?
Do you have a iSCSI license as well on your FAS system?
