Hi
I was wondering if it should be possible to use offsite backup with Veeam backup and replication using this approach:
1.Place an NAS-box locally (1gb network) – make the initial 1. Backup.
2.Move the NAS-box to a remote VPN location (WAN 50mbit/sec)
3.Continue to backup using “Changed block” feature over the WAN line.
In the event of disaster – simply move the NAS backup to local site and make the restores!
Should Veeam be able to do this? Is there a better approach?

Re: Backup to offsite NAS
Hello Christian, yes - this will work just fine.
One suggestion I have is that you consider mounting your NAS to a Linux server, then add this Linux server to Veeam Backup, and use it as destination versus writing straight to NAS. This will allow us to use local agent on Linux server, and thus keeping VBK update traffic (of rebuilding synthetic full) local to remote location, instead of having Veeam Backup in production site doing this operation over WAN. This would reduce the traffic in 3 times (write block versus read-write-write block).
Hope this helps!
