Backup VM´s Cluster Windows Server

Post by SerSunal »

Is it possible to backup two virtual machines with Windows Server that form a cluster? I want to do it through vcenter, without using the veeam agent

Hello,
if the cluster is fully virtualized, and snapshots of all disks are possible from the hypervisor side, then yes. Examples where it works are SQL always ON and Exchange DAG clusters running on VMDKs.

If you ask for a Windows failover cluster with shared disk: that's a physical device and has to be backed up with methods that are built for physical devices (agents).

Best regards,
Hannes

Thank´s hannesK.
Yeah that's right. The cluster made up of the two virtual machines has shared disks, which are storage volumes connected by NFS to these virtual machines.
I would like to stop using agents and backup virtual machines through vCenter and share them through File Backup
