Hello,
Are you talking about a VM, or a physical server? Since Veeam Backup & Replication can backup both, but using different methods (thus slightly varying system requirements).
Thanks!

Re: backup windows 2008 server
Hello!
There are no special requirements for Windows Server 2008 guest OS, all operating systems supported by VMware vSphere or Hyper-V version in use are supported by Veeam B&R as well.
However, application-aware processing is recommended to create transactionally consistent backup of a VM, the option is available at guest processing step of the job creation wizard.
Thanks!

To clarify, Petr's answer is for the case of VMware or Hyper-V VM

Re: backup windows 2008 server
I'm on the same boat.
It seems that Windows Server 2008 (NOT R2) is not supported from quite some time.
Does anyone known a method to backup them even with older versions?

Hi Jose, what makes you think it is not supported?

Re: backup windows 2008 server
In my case, I'm talking about physical server (Not a VM). In that case the Windows Agente is necessary, and supported OS starts with 2008 R2.
I even try to install the agent which is successful, but backup jobs skips, and finishes with "unsupported OS" without doing anything.
I'll have to virtualize the server first...

Got it, I don't think Veeam Agent for Windows ever supported Windows 2008, so you have to virtualize, yes.
