Question: We backup a VM when it's powered down and get a good backup. Then, at some time in the future, the same VM is backed up when it
is running, against the base backup image of it when it was not running. What are the consequences of this, if any ? Thanks for your insight.

Re: Backup with VM not running, then backup when running
Hello Hale,
There should not be any side effects. Just make sure to enable application-aware processing - it's responsible for creating a consistent backup.
Also, be careful with "continue if VSS fails" checkbox as a job would report warning only even in case of an error during application-aware processing.
