Receiving this message from one of our jobs that has been running for a few weeks now (successfully) but just started failing:
Checking backup consistence
Reading backup directory failed: Unknown backup format
VBK ERROR:Storage [Block offset refers to area outside the storage. Storage size: [677121801409]. Block offset: [1286622584237469305].] is corrupted.

As it stores backups in a file, perhaps the file is corrupted - try renaming it to something else an re-run the backup to create a new file.

Thanks, that removes the error but I am concerned about why this error occurred in the first place. Obviously, it will not be good if our backups suddenly become unusable.

Thats true - perhaps you could send the file off to Veeam support to look at it?
