Backups Failing Since Upgrading to Veeam 11
Hi All,
We were running Veeam B&R Community edition on 9.5 4B with no issues on a 2016 Hyper-V Environment.
Since upgrading to Veeam 11 backup jobs will run successfully 2-3 times after the Hyper-V Host is rebooted and then continuously fail with the below error.
19/08/2021 10:05:29 AM :: Processing VMNAME Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FcIsExists': Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
This is for all backup and backup copy jobs.
The backup repository is a Synology NAS. Attempting to readd the repository results in one of two failures.
Either it fails with not enough resources as above or
Failed to determine if ReFS synthetic is available.
The repository is NTFS so unsure of why we are receiving an REFS error.
Have tried running a repair and reinstall with no success.
Have also tried following https://www.veeam.com/kb1175
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Support case ID is 04974850.

Re: Backups Failing Since Upgrading to Veeam 11
Hi, this error would indicate system requirements are not met for some of the backup infrastructure components (most likely lack of RAM). Thanks!

Hi Gostev,
The Host has 64GB of RAM with 20GB free.
VMs are also adequately specced.
No hardware specifications have changed since upgrading from 9.5 to 11.
After a reboot we get 2-3 successful backups before they begin failing again with the same error.

Do you have upgraded to the latest Patch Level?
veeam-backup-replication-f2/current-version-t9456.html
Based on logs I think this would be really helpful for you.

There're no known issues like that with your build, so it must be something environment specific... let's hope our support has some availability to get back to you.

Re: Backups Failing Since Upgrading to Veeam 11
Hi,
Just spotted this thread and have been having the same issue.
Case #05092025
Veeam backups working for several days, then for no obvious reason backup failures across the board.
Backup errors report no access to repo with error :
"Failed to pre-process the job Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FcIsExists': Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service."
Checking backup infra shows a repo unavailable which matches the one referenced above.
Browsing to the repo from the Veeam server works fine and can navigate around the target, view the backup files and create update and delete files and folders without issue.
All issues are resolved with a reboot of the Veeam server.
I am now on my 3rd ticket with Veeam just for version 11, and still getting the runaround with them recommending an upgrade to the latest version.
Ive had this same issue with Veeam since version 9 now. Each time their recommendation is to upgrade rather than investigate in detail, or to suggest that there is some sort of connectivity issue with the storage. Its only when I prove the same veeam server can connect to the repo using windows explorer that these less helpful suggestions go away.
Each upgrade has been a clean VM with a clean install of the latest Veeam ISO and all recommended udates. Sometimes its months, sometimes its as week or 2 before the issues start, but they always start.
Its time Veeam starts investigating these issues instead of knee-jerking an upgrade recommendation, and kicking the actual issue down the road.

Hi, seems like a valid feedback, however this R&D forum is a wrong place to submit comments on Technical Support quality with certain particular cases. You should use "Talk to a Manager" functionality in the Customer Portal instead. They will review your cases and assign a more experienced engineer to the current one if necessary. Thanks!
