Backup job schedule

Post by loganathansamynathan »

Hello,

I have two veeam job,
1. Veeam backup job - Runs everyday 8 PM
2. Replication job - Runs every 1 hours from 8 AM to 8 PM everyday.

Some times the backup job and its replication jobs are collating always, I mean before backup job completes the replication job starts and both the jobs are hung together and makes the server IOPS and CPU high and server lacks to run. So I have to run the replication job once the backup job completed, I could achieve it by schedule after this job option however this will not run every hour. So is possible to schedule using two option (we need to change radio button to checkbox.) to schedule the same.

Thanks,
Loganathan

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

As far as I see, the easiest way would be to start the backup job at 9pm :-)
I mean before backup job completes the replication job starts
how can this happen? The backup job has 12h time before the next replication job starts
and both the jobs are hung together and makes the server IOPS
do you have a support case number for that? because by design the jobs wait for each other and say something like "Machine is locket by another tasks"

To answer your question: no, only one schedule is possible. The alternative would be to create multiple jobs. But I recommend to solve the root cause, because it sounds like something is going wrong.

Hi loganathansamynathan,
Be informed that Backup job and Replication job uses snapshot , this doubles the workload on the virtual infrastructure: two VM snapshots need to be created independently from one another, and VM data need to be transferred from the production site twice.
To avoid that you can define permitted hours for the replication job to deny running Replication job on the backup job windows. For example, you have configured a job to run with a 2-hour interval and defined permitted hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. According to the rules above, the job will first run at 9:00 AM, when the denied period is over. After that, the job will run at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
