Re: benefit of use fast clone
Hi,
1. FastClone works for the following operations only:
- reverse incremental transform
- synthetic full
- compact of full backup
- backup files merging
and yes, it is enabled by default, unless you change that via registry key.
2. Backup repository role must be assigned whether to Windows 2016 or SMB 3.11 shared folder.
3. Fast Clone increases the speed of synthetic backup creation and transformation, reduces disk space requirements and load on the storage devices.
Thanks

Re: benefit of use fast clone
you said fast clone will be work with reverse incremenatal - synthetic full backup and ...... but finally you say one of the benefit for use fast clone is :
Fast Clone increases the speed of synthetic backup creation and transformation
why just synthetic backup before that you sat fast clone support with all of backup type

Re: benefit of use fast clone
I meant to say that FastClone increases the speed of synthetic backup creation and all other operations that involve transformation of backup files: merge, compact, reverse backup transformation. For backup copy jobs it also works for GFS restore points creation. Sorry for ambiguity.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: benefit of use fast clone
1- Yes, the first and the only full in your backup chain. If you have periodic full backup option set then you don't need compact operation.
2- With a standard forever-forward (i.e. no periodic fulls) backup mode the backup files get merged to keep the backup chain from growing forever.
Thanks
