Best practice for many restorepoints

Post by christopher-swe »

Hi,

I have a job that need to take a backup every 6th hour and save it for at least 6 month. I've counted to about 600 Restore Points and wondering if there are any best practice for this many restore points?
We are using Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5 Update 3 running on Windows 2016 and a ReFS storage.
The job is set to Incremental with one synthetic fullbackup once a week, with no full active fullbackups. Is this a valid solution or is there a better way for this many restore points?

Hi Christopher, do you need to keep each and every restore point for 6 months? Otherwise, look at the GFS approach that is implemented in backup copy jobs.

Hi,

Yes, the requirements is that it should be easy to restore if needed. Haven't used the backup copy job with GFS. Is it just as easy as right-click and choose restore? :)

Correct, it's always right click and restore regardless of restore point type. Thanks.
