Not that soon I'd say. Typically, it takes significant time for our system engineers and solution architects to collect relevant data from the field, adjust it to digestible form, pick out the scenarios that work best, and finally write the said document. It's not a fast process, as you can imagine. Thanks.

This said, I can confirm that the upgrade of the paper has already started, but for now we can't give any estimated time for the publication.

Solutions Architects already started the work. At least the goal is to finish the first rework in Q2 2016. Content team need time then to finalize it...
Best answer is "soon".

Old Best Practice Guide still applies.
At DirectNFS is prefered at transport mode for backup and restore (top of the list).
SoBR is prefered for any Medium+ Installations as it is more flexible. Scalability of these are pretty the same compared with multiple single repositories.
Per VM chain with enabled BitLooker can help to increase performance, specifically with slow storage and dedup appliances.

A working document of the best practice guide (inofficial) can be found at the wiki: http://bp.veeam.expert/ (You can see the progress there)

Is there a way to sign up for email alerts when the guide is published as 1.0?

No, I think there will be a lot of "noise" by our marketing. So if you are already listed on our regular email lists, you will get an email.
I will post here any updates, and you will see them in the weekly forum digest email under "Your Content".
