Best way to link Backup Jobs

Post by Craig Nunn »

Hi,
Because our target location and LAN is not great, we want just one job to run at a time. Its easy enough to schedule jobs to run at different times, but as we can never be too sure exactly how long a given job will take, we don't want the next job to start while the first is still running. And because of different requirements for different servers, we need to have different jobs, so can't just have one big job.

How can I get Veeam to start "job B" when "Job A" has finished? And so on for "Job C" etc.

Limit the repository and/or proxy to 1 concurrent job and then schedule them up to start about 5 minutes apart (or even all together if you don't care about the exact order). Since the repository (or proxy) would be limited to run only a single job at a time the other jobs will just queue up and then be processed automatically as the first job ends. I prefer this over explicitly linking jobs, although that option is in the GUI as well, but can lead to unpredicatable behavior when jobs are failed, manually started, or are modified (such as new jobs being added or deleted).

And JFY, the mentioned linking jobs option in UI is available at the Schedule step of the job wizard ("After this job"). Thanks.
