Using a QNAP NAS, I am able to present the destination storage as either a Windows SMB share or NFS Datastore once seen by the ESX hosts.
Does anyone know the best option?
In terms of performance I am seeing about the same.
The other option is to install File Services for UNIX and get the Veeam server to see the NFS share as a client without having to get the ESX hosts to see it as well.
I understand the closer the storage target is to the Veeam server, the better.
Any advice would be helpful.

Re: Best way to present target NAS storage
SMB share is fine. Less complexity, same performance.
