Hi!
If you restore a group policy item that contains AD software installation policy, the restored policy will lose it's supersedance info.

Do you mean the Supersedence Rules that are configured in the properties of the software update point are lost upon group policy restore?

Chances are these settings are not stored within the group policy object, but somewhere else, that's why they are not restored along with it. We need to investigate.
