Re: can i switch from incremental to reversed incremental
Just keep in mind, that a new full backup will be created during the next job run after switching.

Re: can i switch from incremental to reversed incremental
Using 9.5.4b if I change my FI job to create a Synthetic Full Friday night and then change the job to RI will the RI on Saturday use the SF vbk as the initial RP or will it create a new one?
Once the RI has finished I have a tape job to run, to use the VBK created by the RI job, so have a limited window to achieve this.

Hi Clive, reverse incremental mode doesn't allow synthetic fulls.

Re: can i switch from incremental to reversed incremental
Hi Foggy
Sorry I f I didn't make it clear step one was to create a SF and once this was completed to change the job to RI.
Thanks

Got it. Full backup will still be triggered at the next job run after switching (unless you enable transformation to rollback prior to creating a synthetic full).

Re: can i switch from incremental to reversed incremental
One last thing
I set the job to create a SF with rollback transform option and start the job.
I then edit the job so it is RI on next schedule run.
If the SF fails and retries will it retry a SF or will it pick up the changed settings and run RI.
Thanks

I haven't checked that specific scenario but I assume the retry will pick up the new backup method though fail since it would expect VBK as the latest RP.

Hi Foggy
just to confirm creating SF with Transform option ticked, allowed change to vbr without a new AF.
Backups are running OK and so are the tape jobs
Many Thanks for your help.
Regards
Clive
P.S. we didn't try failing the job and retrying it!
