Can SQL Server be rolled back to tlogs AFTER last backup?

Post by mikeely »

Right now all I can see are point in time restores from before the last regular backup. I'm wondering if/how one might restore to transaction logs shipped after the most recent backup. Thanks.

Are you sure transaction logs were backed up at least once after the most recent VM backup took place?

I think so. Where do the logfiles live? The details pane for log shipping isn't very detailed.

OK, I've verified that the backup server is receiving the log shipments both from watching the logship job on the console and by examining the timestamp in the backup repository. For some reason though the log diffs aren't showing up as an available option in the point-in-time restore, only logs shipped prior to last backup.

Somehow over the weekend the issue ironed itself out. Now I'm seeing the current logs.
