Can't add new credentials to be used with server

Post by bjackson »

Hello,

We recently changed the administrators password on a Windows 2012 server. Veeam was using a set of credentials that cannot be updated it seems. As when I drill down to the Inventory->Manage Server-> Windows Server option, the credentials are all greyed out. This is the latest Veaam 12.x edition. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

BD Jackson

Hi Brent,

Just to confirm, the Windows 2012 server you changed the password on is one you're backing up with Veeam Agent for Windows, correct?

This should be managed from the Protection Groups; are you able to change it by editing the Protection Group and selecting the machine, then clicking "Set User"?

I think so. When I go into the protection group, I can't seem to edit the credentials there. I can right click on the server listed there but it only gives me "Rescan, Add to backup job, Agent, Plug-in, Uninstall everything, Remove from Configuration, Details. But no edit!

I have to go to Backup Infrastructure -> Managed Servers-> Microsoft Windows -> Server.name -> edit before I can see the greyed out field where the credentials are normally selected/added/edited.

Right-Click on the Protection Group itself, and then select "Properties". That will get you back to the Protection Group wizard like shown in the link I provided. And from there you can click on "Set User" to change the credentials used for the machine in the Protection Group.
