can use storage snapshot for vms on local disk server

i read this document about storage snapshot

1- now i want to know do and config and enable storage snapshot for a vm can just do on shared storage or SAN ??
2- can use storage snapshot ability for vms that put on local disk hp server ??

My hp server is dl380G8
I don't have any shared storage
All of my data is on hp server local disk
Can use storage snapshot in this mode??
