Can Veeam B&R backup remote WAN servers to cloud?

Using Veeam B&R to backup our VMware environment in our production site. We have a bunch of smaller remote sites on the WAN with Hyper-V running a file server VM.

Can Veeam be used to do VM level backup of the remote Hyper-V VMs directly to the cloud repository?

The goal is to not have any traffic on the WAN, an agent installed on the Hyper-V host that backs up the VM to cloud?

Would be great if we can ditch CrashPlan as our file server backup and leverage Veeam to do cloud based backup of the entire VM instead.

You may want to take a look at Cloud Connect, it allows pointing your backups to the cloud repository.
