Can Veeam do this?
Hi,
We have server A that is local and server B that is in another state. There is a 50 MPS pipe between the two servers.
We are using VMware 5.5 and have a new copy of Veeam.
We would like to have an exact copy of server A (same server name, same IP, same everything) replicate the deltas to Server B location in the other state over the 50 MPS pipe. There is about 50 gigs worth of change data everyday.
Can we use Veeam to keep server A and server B in sync?

Hello Rob,
Yes, you can use replication jobs to keep both sites in sync, however please note that vSphere 5.5 is not supported by the current Veeam B&R version.
Thank you!

Thank you.
How frequently could Veeam keep these two sites updated? Could it be almost real time replication?
Would Veeam provide for any type of automated failover?

Yep, you can setup the replication job to run continuously. This way, the next replication cycle will be started as soon as the previous one is completed. Thanks. How frequently could Veeam keep these two sites updated? Could it be almost real time replication?

If you're referring to a failover when you do not need to change any target VM settings, then yes, failover is fully automated. Just a few mouse clicks in our wizard to select the point in time that you want to failover to.krypto69 wrote:Would Veeam provide for any type of automated failover?
If your question is about failing over to the replicated VM with no backup admin interaction, then this is not possible. See this existing topic for the reasons why > Replication to DR site

Just so I'm clear..
Veeam is okay with both servers having the same exact name on the same exact network?

typically we would append a _replica suffix to the VM name , however if the two sites are set up as different datacenters in vCenter , they can have the same name. Assuming you have a stretched layer 2 network , you shouldn't have a problem. If you do have different vlans available , you can re-ip windows machines to a new address and port group.
