If only I knew now what is EBM?
Also, it's not clear what kind of "mix" are you talking about.
But, before you answer, please also review the Licensing section of the sticky FAQ topic, because it answers a number of common questions along the same license.

I think Enterprise Manager is meant here.
If so, then, Enterprise Manager can distribute one merged license that contains both sockets and instances counter.
However, it cannot distribute two (or more) separate licenses each with different counter type (socket-based one and instance-based one).
Thanks!

Sorry, yes, with EBM I meant Enterprise Backup Manager (but I realized the correct term is Enterprise Manager).
Looking at FAQs, it says "For example, if you protect VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V VMs with perpetual per-socket licenses, you must protect all vSphere and Hyper-V VMs with sockets in that environment. "
Is the "environment" scoped to vCenter? Meaning we can't backup some sites under a VC with instances and other sites under that VC with sockets?

Correct, in the presence of socket counter all VM-workloads will be processed via it. Thanks!Meaning we can't backup some sites under a VC with instances and other sites under that VC with sockets?
