cannot encrypt a replication job
we have just started to use the encrypt facility for our Veeam backups. no issues there at all. why can't we run the same for a replica job? we run replica's off site and this feature would be great. We run ESXi 5.5 - due to the age of our hardware, we are reluctant to upgrade to the latest version of ESX so we can't use the encrypt VM function (our hardware is not all listed on the compatibility matrix). would we be better off making our offsite solution a Windows box and use it as a backup repository - that way we could still encrypt?

Re: cannot encrypt a replication job
Hi Pete, the job-level encryption you're talking about makes sense for backup files only, while for replication you can encrypt network traffic going between the primary site and the disaster recovery site (replica VM itself cannot be encrypted). Is that what you're looking for?

Re: cannot encrypt a replication job
thanks for the quick reply. I understand that we can encrypt the traffic, but, ideally we'd like the replication to be encrypted - that worst case scenario that the remote end has a break in and the hosting server is stolen. I may need to rethink this!
