Cannot FLR(Windows), if Veeam install to Japanese OS

Hello,

If Veeam install to Japanese OS, we cannot perform FLR(Windows) by this error message.
‘No disks have been mounted. Either disks of this type aren’t supported or some errors occurred. See log file for details.’

We confirmed http://www.veeam.com/kb1883.
But FLR still failed by same error.
And the execution result of vdk.exe was garbled character.
The garbled did not solve, if we change code pages of Command Prompt (chcp 437).

We found original vdk.exe (update stop 06-04-2005).

If we replaced vdk.exe, It output Japanese, not garbled.

But original vdk.exe doesn't support 64bit OS, so 'vdk install' failed.

Do you know something information about this problem?

Yukinobu, what Veeam B&R version are you using? Were you able to perform Windows FLR for these VMs using Veeam B&R installed on an English locale? Have you already contacted technical support with that?

If the given files must be restored as soon as possible, then, you can try to use Other OS restore as temporary workaround. Thanks.

Try adding English language pack and changing language preference to English on your backup server, as far as I know this solves most of the problems with Japanese OS.

Hi guys,

This problem resolved, if I use English language pack in our lab.
But we cannot use English language pack in production site.

Do you know any plan to fix this problem?

I yet does not contact technical support.
Should I open support case?

Hi Yukinobu, no need to contact support as this is known limitation. There are no plans to address it in the short term. Note that you need to install English language pack on the Veeam server only, there is no need to install it on any of your production servers. Thanks!
