Post by Lehani »

Hi there follow veeamers

i am fairly new to veeam andare still learning :)

i have a issue, i have a old NAS that has been runing the last 5 years, now i have brought a new NAS, and i can fine create my repositories, with the CIFS mode, and adds my Virtuals machines to the backup job, but when it runs the job, i get the follow error message:

Code: Select all

Hi Morten,
Please check the related KB article to make some basic troubleshooting.
By the way, the support case number you provided is wrong, please double check.
Thanks!

Hi Shestakov :)

thanks for a reply, i will double check the number :)

my support-id number is the right one i wrote.

i have followed http://www.veeam.com/kb1735
and VEEAM also do place a 30.800 kb file on my QNAP with a 5 kb file.

so the VEEAM does read and write to the QNAP. my guess is that i miss something in VEEAM since the old QNAP Works fine.

You may have configuration problems on the storage device, another reason is that firewall blocking SMB traffic.
Have you tried to force the Veeam Agents to ‘net use’ with the registry key as stated in the KB?

The case was closed 2-years ago. Do you have a recent case opened with Veeam technical support?
Thanks!

sorry i misunderstood you :)

00982015 case number :)

you can look into the case to see more info.
i would like to solve my problem, I would like not to use iSCSI for the backup.
and should not be needed for the backup job to work.

I have found the issue.

if I use SMB 1.0 its works, but cause my DNS not to work. which isn't the best since I use it as a share in my domain.
Still I think there is an issue with either QNAP firmware or VEEAM.
SMB 2.0, 2.1 and 3.0 won’t work with my setup.

Really hope you fix this so I can use DNS again 

if I throw my QNAP and VEEAM server on the same subnet with the same Default Gateway, it works also.
see picture for my setup, on the picture with SMB3.0 backup works to my QNAP02 and not QNAP01. unless I use SMB1.0

hope this helps out others
