CBT and Re-install Veeam Backup and Replication

Post by christopher-swe »

Hi,

Is it possible to re-install Veeam Backup and Replication on a new server and still keep the CBT of my current backups?

Will a new install also affecting my existing backups on my ReFS storage?

Veeam Backup and Replication using database to keep backup jobs status, so I guess, re-installations has no impact on backup jobs. About CBT, this is VMware's feature and checksums are stored as metadata to backup files next to VM data. If you do some operations on VM such as adding new disks or removing some disks, then backup server has to calculate disk digest and also re-installation has no impact on that.
Read Veeam Backup and Replication document for ensure about that.

In addition to that, use configuration backup/restore functionality to keep your existing jobs and settings during a migration.
