Hi Stanislav, you can deploy similar settings on the proxy server (same location).

[MERGED] Feature Request-Global option for job metadata

Post by CCSAD »

C:\programdata\Veeam is sitting at 30 GB. It would be nice to be able to go into globa option in B & R and set a central spot for all metadata on another drive. Unless there's already a way to do this?

Must be debug logs that consume free space in given directory; check hints provided above or this KB article. Thanks.

Thank you! I should have known there was a KB and reg key. Still, a tab in the global options would be reeeeal nice for v10 ;-)

[MERGED] Feature request: Auto Delete/ Purge of veeam log fi

Post by steffescorp » 1 person likes this post

Default log files located at C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup there were log files located from the first day veeam was installed. Tried https://www.veeam.com/kb1825 kb 1825 but that did not delete any old files. Checked with support and was told there is no automated way to purge log files will need to do manually. Requesting this feature so logs could be deleted by date or previous number of log for backup/ replica or vm etc.

Hi steffescorp.
there is no automated way to purge log files will need to do manually
If I am not mistaken there is a built in retention logic that deletes debug logs after certain period of time. I'll check it and update this thread, stay tuned.

Right, logs retention should work according to the settings described in this KB, I recommend asking support engineer to further investigate why it doesn't work in your case.

We have made changes as described in that KB and still I just did remove more than 120GB perf logs from Veeam. Last time was about a Month ago.
Changes made from KB all ready somewhere in March:
1. None.
2. from default to 1860
3. from default to 4
4. from default to 312000
5. from default to 5

Logginlevel in registry is 2.

It still keeps way too much logs. I've been looking for option days to keep logs but haven't found it.

One thing I've been wondering a long time already is why things like this has to be done via registry or some other things via scripts? I've been working with backups since -97 and with several different products, this is only one where things are done via registry and/or scripts not as options in product.

Hello,

Basically, debug logs are supposed to be used by our support engineers when they troubleshoot issues, furthermore default settings work fine in a large majority of cases. Anyway, your request is noted!

Thanks!
