Change NAS or Change NAS IP address

Post by zadrian »

I have 2 different scenario....

1. Due to changes in network, I need to change the IP address of the NAS which is my Veeam B&R 9.5u3 repository (connected via SMB)
How can I just change the IP address of the NAS (currently is using \\192.168.250.120\veeam), new IP address is 192.110.250.120. (I have set up the NAS to use both IP address until we cut over).

2. I need to upgrade a NAS....Synology RS2416RP+ to RS2418RP+ due to old NAS warranty out.
How to proceed if I am able to copy or rsync the backup folders such that I can migrate the jobs and not restart the whole Veeam backup jobs (VBR 9.5 for VMware using reverse increment backup) ?

I suggest doing the following:

1. Disable jobs.
2. Copy backups somewhere as a safety measure.
3. Remove backups from configuration.
4. Upgrade NAS/change IP.
5. Add a new repository pointing to the new location.
6. Rescan the new repository.
7. Edit the jobs to change the repository to the new one and map them to existing backups.
