Change service account

Post by withanh »

We're doing some account cleanup and need to change the service account that Veeam is running under.

What (if any) ramifications will there be from changing the accounts? What permissions/rights does the service account need? (currently we are using the Administrator account which is why we need to change it). I'm pretty sure I'll need to move the log files, but what else?

Thanks!

Hello Darhl,

You need local admin's permissions, after changing credentials please do not forget to restart B&R's service.
Also, if you're backing up to a network share, make sure new account still has enough rights to access it.
In addition, verify new account's permission on the VB&R SQL configuration database.

Thanks!

Database is local SQL Express so local admin rights should be plenty, right?

Thanks for getting back, I'll give this a go and see what happens.

Yes, local admin rights are sufficient for default installation.
