My jobs are currently set to use Reverse Incremental mode, and I'm trying to find ways to improve performance.
What are the consequences of changing the setting to use Incremental (recommended) mode? What happens to the existing restore points?

Re: Changing backup mode from Reverse Incremental to Increme
Hi Andrew,
Nothing will happen to existsing restore points, with the ecxeption of deleting restore points in case of retention (amount of restore points).
When you switch to incremental backup, your backups perhaps will be completed faster, since there is no calculation of reverse incremental into a full backup.
What version of Veeam do you use? What servers, storage etc. do you have at the site?

Also, what are the bottleneck stats for your current jobs. Depending on that, switching backup mode might not necessarily result in performance increase.

Re: Changing backup mode from Reverse Incremental to Increme
Is there a way of getting more detailed bottleneck statistics then those shown during a backup job? They indicate that the target is responsible for 98% of the delay. I'm guessing it's just terrible at random IO.

You're right, since merge process performed during reversed incremental mode has random I/O pattern.
