Changing Proxy server (replication) IP address

Post by morciod »

We have changed the IP address of the VM guest server for proxy system that is used for VM replication.
Rplication fails due to unable to find resource. I noted the proxy in Veeam config is still pointing to old IP ...
What do i need to do to have Veeam recognise the new ip. The server is defined using its DNS name

Does your Veeam B&R server resolve the DNS name of your target proxy correctly? Can you ping your proxy server from the backup console?

Thanks morciod, for the precision about the answer....

On the other hand, in my case we have virtual proxies which are running with daily backups.
Backups work fine but we found out that the network traffic was not following the right path to the Repository because of an IP misconfiguration.

So my question is:

What is the procedure to follow if i need to change the IP of a proxy (Physical or virtual) without compromising backups.

Thank you.

Is the "automatic proxy selection" ticked in the backup job settings? If so, you can just delete the existing proxy server, and add it under correct IP address. During the next cycle backup job will use the newly-added proxy server. Otherwise (if proxy server is set explicitly), you should add a proxy under new IP address, delete the old proxy, and set backup jobs to use the correct one. You can do it either manually, going over backup jobs one by one, or automatically, using simple PS script.

Thanks.

Thank you for the answer,
I'll try that second option as our proxy are explicitely selected in our Jobs as Repositories rely on them.

Then, it stands to reason to leverage the script referenced above in order to avoid manual efforts. Thanks.
