Hey guys, I am looking at changing the NTFS allocation size for our Veeam repository in order to support 8PB volume size:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... ge-volumes
https://superuser.com/questions/433000/ ... out-format
Before doing this, I need to know if changing the allocation size would corrupt the backup data or not? Formatting to ReFS is not an option at the moment.
Cheers!

Re: Changing the NTFS Allocation Size for the Repo
I would not risk doing this. I'm sure it's not something Microsoft support without reformat.

Re: Changing the NTFS Allocation Size for the Repo
So if we do the other way - copy the backup data to another storage (that would probably take a huge amount of time considering the current size), format the current volume to ReFS, then copy the backup data back to this volume - I am not sure if backup data would still work after doing this.
I was hoping someone who has experienced changing the NTFS allocation size could help me confirm if this has worked for them or not. Of course there is always a risk, but forums like these could be very helpful for Veeam admins.
