Hi,
I have a backup job which was originally set with 32 days retention. My backup is set to reverse incrementals with a weekly backup on a Friday.
I changed this to 28 days due to running low on space on my backup server - however for some reason it still retains 32 days of backups? Can I safely remove the .vbk and .vib files at the lower end or will this cause problems if needing to restore? I am running low on space and need to import a backup file from a few months ago.
Many thanks
Russell

Re: Changing the retention time of a backup
Hello Russell,
Have you run the backup job after applying new retention policy settings? Be aware that retention policy is applied at the end of the job run. If you do not have enough space to start the job, then you can remove the oldest VRB files, should allow you to run the job and delete unneeded restore points using Veeam backup server.
Thank you!
