Citrix Golden Image backup

Post by MLG »

Good afternoon all,

We have a number of golden images that we use for VDI users, these images change regular due to updates, Teams update, other software packages etc... As such our desktop team create numerous snapshots along the way per update, sometimes leaving 6 snaps on a golden image.

Our stance on this is not backup these images due to the number of snapshots and using storage snapshot integration, as I know it can take an age to collect disk file locations.

They are asking if it is possible to backup these VMs even with the addition of multiple snapshot.

Just curious if anyone else has a similar issue.

Thanks all :D

Create a separate job without using the snapshot intergration for your goldenimages. Thats how we do it with Horizon images, same concept. As an extra we Storage Snapshot on SAN level and not with Veeam for the images.

We tend to count the PVS server backup as 'good enough'.
If any of the worker VMs break, they can be recreated with little fuss.
