Cloning Windows 10 Laptops

Post by y1008946 »

Hi, we have Veeam Backup and Replication and we have bought 10 laptops (all the same make, model and spec).

Could we...

- setup one laptop (not joined to the domain)

- Back it up using the Backup Job -> Windows Computer...

- Restore it to the other nine laptops

Would this work instead of using Windows Deployment Services?

Thanks!

Hey,

You can do it with Veeam Agent for Windows FREE.
1. Create Bootable Recovery Media.
2. Back up one laptop.
3. Restore it using recovery media. Thanks!

Thanks very much, so there should be no problems with the Windows licenses on the laptops if I do that?

We have backup and replication which we have paid for, can we not use that?

Thanks!

At what point do you do the sysprep step?

Is there a way to do a sysprep and boot from the bootable stick and start a backup? after a sysprep we dont want to start the workstation again..

You cannot back up the physical workloads without the Agent, since VBR can protect only VMs.
The deployment and management of an Agent have been implemented in the Veeam B&R, you can find out how to utilize its features from the User Guide for Agent Management.

You should be asked for a new license, since the hardware was changed. Thanks!

Hi Yannick,

You cannot initiate backup from the Recovery Media. Thanks!
