combine licenses

Post by fgw »

just before i pull the trigger to order veeam backup one final question:

plan on using one backupserver to backup 6 hosts with 2 cpu's each thus i will require 12 licenses (12 sockets).

i might add another backup server in the future to distribute backup load.

to start with, would it be best to order two licenses for 6 sockets each and load both of them on my single backup server to get 12 sockets in total and as soon as i set up a second backup server load one license on each of them

or

should i order a single 12 socket license and when using two backup servers in the future, install this same license on both backup servers using only six sockets on each server?

Hello Franz, you should go with single 12 socket license because "merging" the two licenses in one console is not supported. You can use the same license file with multiple hosts as long the overall licensed socket count is not exceeded.
