Complicated backup with different retention per folder

Post by kaboomza »

Hi there,

I have a complicated server where I need to basically attempt to backup and exclude specific folders however each folder has a specific retention period in mind but its all on the same server, would I have to basically create multiple jobs for the same server with each job having its specific folders included and retention applied? Since im pretty sure I cant do all of that in a single job. Or any other recommendations on how I can approach that is appreciated.

Hi Jaques,

Retention policy is tied to a Job, so your guess with multiple jobs is optimal.

/Thanks!

What about a file share backup @egor?

Can I somehow do that type of backup without having to do full backups of the VM etc...?

Yes, there are no problems with that approach... in fact, we made this use case free in 10a from licensing perspective.
