Continuous backup with backup copy

Is there a way to have the backup copy job from a continuous job only copy specific backups? Like only one backup per day?

I understand I can create another backup job with a different schedule and target that for backup copy but this will require a lot of extra work to maintain.

You can use a backup copy job in the periodic copy mode: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
This would allow you to define it to copy just once a day and when to start that copy.

@haslund thanks for the great idea. How does periodic copy mode handle incremental restore points? Does it just blindly copy the last restore point even thought the whole chain might be missing?

Backup copy jobs do not simply copy the backup file across. It creates a new backup chain. You could have 60 backup restore points between the previous periodic backup copy job and the most recent and the backup copy job would still create a viable incremental restore point.

Does multiple backup jobs targeting the same backup data create separate chains?

You would not want multiple backup jobs targeting the same backup data. If you mean multiple jobs targeting the same backup repository, then yes, it would create separate chains.
