I have some Veeam6 jobs that backup individual datastores. I want to convert these so they are backing up the VMs inside the datastores by VM instead. I'm happy to keep the existing VMs in the datastore for the meantime.
Is there an easy way to create a new VM based job and move the VMs to it, retaining the previous backups?

Re: Convert datastore job to vm-based job
not sure about your question, do you mean having new backup jobs where you are going to list explicitly individual VMs rather than their containing datastore? If so, you can add the VMs of the same job by simply adding them one by one to the existing job and at the same time remove the datastore from the "Objects" list.
I'm not sure however if the "map backup" feature will recognize the VMs already saved in the backup file.
Or, you can create new backup jobs and wait for the retention of the previous jobs to expire, and than simply delete the old backup jobs, if you have enough space on the backup storage to keep both jobs for a while.
Luca.

Re: Convert datastore job to vm-based job
thanks, that first option sounds like a good approach. I'll try it out and report back in a couple of days.
If not I'll use the second option but I was hoping to avoid having to do full backups.

Re: Convert datastore job to vm-based job
Thanks Luca, worked like a charm:
renamed the job, deleted the datastore, added back the VMs in scope and mapped backup to original.
