Hello,
I've got several terabytes worth of replicas that I would like to convert to WAN backup jobs instead. Is there any way of leveraging the replicas to seed the backups in the remote site or can it only be done with backup files from the source site? I was hoping to avoid having to shuttle TBs of data around on USB drives.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Convert from Replication to Backup Over WAN
Hi Chris, are you planning to switch to remote backup jobs or backup copy jobs? In the latter (and actually more recommended) case, you can backup replicated VMs locally at the target site, populate WAN cache there and use WAN acceleration. Since all the data is already technically at the target site, this will prevent sending it across again.

Re: Convert from Replication to Backup Over WAN
Hi Chris,
Additionally, if you use backup jobs (not backup copy jobs) with reversed incremental mode, mapping existing backup data to new jobs could also help in saving some bandwidth.
Thanks!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to both of you!
