Convert off-site backup to backup copy job?
I have a couple of questions about switching from off-site backup jobs to backup copy jobs:
1. Can I convert the existing off-site backup to a backup copy job, or will I need to create a new backup copy job on-site and then ship it off-site?
2. Does the backup copy job need to wait until the backup job is finished, or is it smart enough to run while the on-site backup job is running?

Re: Convert off-site backup to backup copy job?
Hi Mike,
1. You will need to create a new backup copy job and then target it to the offsite location. If you want to pre-seed your backup copy job, then you can do that as well.
2. What backup mode are you using? If it is a reversed incremental mode, then the backup copy job will be put on hold if there is an active job session running. The backup copy job will wait for the backup job to release the backup file and then will start the backup copying operation.
Thanks!

Thanks Vitaly! I am currently using reverse incremental.

[MERGED] : Backup_Copy question
I am currently cutting over our current backup solution (Avamar Gen4) to veeam.
Everything is going GREAT so far, except I had a question regarding best practices for backup copy jobs.
I currently have our batch jobs staggered throughout the night, leaving minimal time for any sort of copy job to run, and I know you frown upon running jobs in parallel to ensure best performance. As we speak, I have a copy job running during business hours over our Gb fiber link that connects from our data center to our main building. I allowed continuous for the copy job with no window. When it's corresponding backup job kicks off this evening, will the copy job pause itself or run in parallel?

Re: Convert off-site backup to backup copy job?
Hi, Ryan. It depends on backup mode that is being used. If it’s forward incremental method, the backup copy job will transfer data to target location without any disruptions. Otherwise, it will be queued, until the backup files is released by backup job.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Let me also mention I am using syn fulls with incrementals and rollbacks.

Re: Convert off-site backup to backup copy job?
very nice! Does this fall in place with your best practices? Will this have any impact on the current backup job that runs during the backup copy job?

Nope, it doesn’t fall outside the so-called “best practices”. Nor will it have any impact on ordinary backup job. Thanks.
