Copy Backup from USB to USB

Post by MJenkins » May 07, 2013 7:51 pm

We save our VEeam Backups to a USB External Hard drive (F:), can it be copied to another Hard for off-site storage?

Yep, it’s possible.

And what are the caveats, from your perspective, that might prevent you from doing it?

Thanks.

Time wise, they are large file and might still be copying when Veeam Backup starts.

What backup mode is being used? Reverse incremental or forward one?

Thanks.

Depending on your time window, instead of copying the backup over, why not create a second backup on the off-site USB drive?

In general, my idea was that if you’re using forward incremental backup mode, you shouldn’t be concerned with this, since previous backup files are never touched with new backup run.

Thus, there wouldn’t be any issues related to copying previous backup-files to external device while backup job is running.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
