Copy backup to new site

Post by toreml »

Hi.

We have a customer with 40 TB+ of backup data which resides in only one datacenter.
They have not been running bcj to site number 2

They would now like to have a copy of their data at our datacenter.

Which options is there if they would like to have all backup data copied and accessable for restore from Veeam.
Total history.

If they only would like backups from now - > then I guess they could just set up new backup copy jobs to the new storage.
Would it the take a complete full backup and all the incrementel backups up to that time the first bcj runs?

No, it would not, it would create one restore point containing current backup chain state.

However, you can copy existing backups created by backup copy job and map newly created job to them. This way, you will have all restore points you need and also avoid initial full backup.

Thanks!

Or you can wait for v10 which will have a new backup copy mode allowing to optionally copy all existing source backups to target.
