Copy data from one NAS to another

Post by mdking »

Hi All,

Hopefully this is a quick answer.

If I wanted to copy all of the Data which is on 1 NAS to another NAS. Does Veeam have a function for this? Is this the Copy job?

Thanks

Matt, are you after setting up a secondary backup storage for backups archiving or just want to move your backup repository from one NAS to another?

Hi.

The outline is, I have a NAS with a number of reverse incremental points. Total 15TB.

I wanted to copy the Data to another NAS and then start to reconfigure the first.

Then once configuration is complete, copy it all back.

Just trying to find the safest, but easiest way of doing it. Something that will not disrupt any scheduled backups too.

Would it be suitable to use something like Teracopy to copy the Veeam files from one NAS to another?

If you want to preserve the whole existing chain as is, then, file copying utility sounds like a good idea, indeed. Thanks.

Hi,

just to confirm, that Teracopy will not cause any problems with the VBR or VBK files?

Thanks

Providing copying process goes well, the chain should stay intact and you shouldn't have any issues with re-using it afterwards. Thanks.

Thanks, and I presume I can copy a number of files at one time. E.g I do not have to copy them all at once for the chain to work?

VBK files are independent, VBR ones are not. In order to VRB files to be useful there should be corresponding VBK they are dependent on.

This thread might be useful in case reconfiguration stage takes longer than the time you have between job cycles.
