Copy files slow
Hello veeam community!
I'm in a situation where when copying files, the copy speed is very low. For example, to copy 3Gb it took 40 minutes!! when If I copy from Windows Explorer (copy-paste) takes 4 minutes.
I tried to copy from \\server \d$ to my local drive C, both \\server\d$ (example) to a removable hdd 3.0
This situation is normal or is there something wrong with my machine?
When I set the file copy, no option alone (source, destination, programming).
Regarding the backup of VM I have no complaint, makes fast.
Thank you very much for your time and help.

Re: Copy files slow
Hello!
Just to make sure: are you talking about File Copy job or Backup Copy job?
If we are talking about Backup Copy, there can be some reasons, since it has 4 phases, including transform operations. The transform operations can take additional time doing a backup chain transformation and/or removing deleted VMs from restore points and/or compacting a full backup file, according to it`s own retention policy, which can differ from the source Backup job one.
In a case of the File Copy job, the copying speed doesn`t look normal.
Thanks!

Assuming source and target are the same in both cases, you shouldn't see 8x difference. Thus, it might be worth opening a ticket with the support team and letting them confirm your environment. Re: Copy files slow
Agree, for the file copy job should have much better performance.
So, once you open a support case as Vladimir mentioned, please provide us the support case number to be able to follow the issue investigation.
Thanks!

[MERGED] Copy File job
Greetings Veeam community.
I wondered if there was a way to speed up a task Copy FIles removing Analysis processes or no way to configure this point that comment .
When many files, it takes too long.
Thank you very much.

Re: Copy files slow
Hello,
Could you provide File Copy jobs statistics showing what "Analysis processes" take in your case.
As far as I can see you decided to contact Veeam technical support to find out the reason of the slow jobs` runs. Have you contacted them finally?
Thanks!

Re: Copy files slow
Yes, I was contacted and perfect .
Just wondering if there would be the possibility to configure avoiding copying files to make a preliminary analysis files.
I also note that only copying a file ( file type .ISO large 30GB ) if obtained a high- speed copy.
However if I need to copy many files scattered in folders , this is where I see the speed is really low.

Re: Copy files slow
"Pre-copying" activity such as file size counting and routing doesn`t take a lot of time in general and I don`t think file can copied without it.
Does the "analysis" take a lot of time in your case?
Once again please provide your support case number, so I could take a look at your debug logs with the dev team. Thanks.

Re: Copy files slow
Adrian, as far as I understood from the support case thread(last part is in Spanish), you did not reply to the last messages of the support engineer. May I ask why?
Please keep investigating the issue with the Veeam support team. Thanks.

Re: Copy files slow
Hello Shestakov .
I have already answered in the open case .
Thank you very much for your help.
As I commented on the case. If I compress files in .zip speed is slightly larger and less time. But if I do it with separate folders and files hosted on several works slow and takes time to load .

In DETECTING takes much .
Now I 'm 10 minutes and still detecting .
It is normal late in detecting all files due to its location ?

Re: Copy files slow
There is no bottleneck for file copy jobs, so "Detecting" means that VBR is trying to find it. After the job is done you will have bottleneck = N/A.
What types of files are you trying to copy and from what type of source(File system, OS...) to what destination (File system, OS...)?
Thanks.

Re: Copy files slow
I am trying to copy general files (pdf , office files, etc ) .
I find doubts and I made another copy of a directory of a minor GB 's in size and in the same directory as the Copy File that is slow and the result was much better and faster ( + -20Mb / s ) .
But in the other copy as you can see in the picture is 5 hours and has just copied 6GB = 12600 files
Thank you very much for your help, to see if I find a solution to this little "problem"
As they move from 500 Kb / s to 20 Mb / s is a great joy

Re: Copy files slow
So, what is the difference between File Copy job runs at the 1st and 2nd images, what did you change?
The processing rate difference is really significant. Thanks.
