Copy job restore point statuses and backup integrity

Post by spookydoor »

Hi, everyone!

Question for you all. With a copyjob that pushes restore points offsite, if you look at the restore points and you see the Full as INCOMPLETE and the subsequent incremental as INCOMPLETE, but then you have one or more incrementals in OK status, is that offsite backup viable to restore from?

Hi Bryan, yes, you can restore from that last restore point. Most likely the first two job runs hadn't completed due to taking more than the copy interval allowed and then the job caught up during the third run.

Is there a way to get the status of those restore points to OK?

No, they will stay on disk in this state as they contain valid data blocks needed to build the first restore point having OK status and will go away according to the configured retention.
