Copying an ESX 2.5 VM to another 2.5 environment

Hi there,

Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this query.
Can anyone confirm if the Backup 6.1.0.181 product will support copying a VM running on ESX 2.5 to another 2.5 environment please ?

We are moving the physical hardware this weekend and wanted to use the free product to take a one off copy as a safety net.

We have done this using an old copy of FastSCP but need to install this on a new machine, hence the query.

You can donwload the latest FastSCP version (3.0.2) here (though I'm not sure it supports ESX 2.5, at least this version is not listed in the release notes).

Even the oldest version of FastSCP I still remember (from 4 years ago) required ESX 3.0.1 or later.

But you can use regular ole SCP, it's built right in to the ESX 2.5 console. Just power down the VM and copy it with SCP command line. That being said, might be time to consider upgrading to a newer ESX version as 2.5 is, well, pretty old, and has been out of support for over 2 years, even if you are on the latest patch (2.5.5).
