Creating an Architecture Using Veeam

Post by y1008946 »

Hi, we are looking to change our servers and architecture, we've been looking into how we can use Veeam to produce a backup & replication solution which will give us some options should a disaster occur.

We have looked at installing a SAN at our main site, but we found it may be too much for us as we only have 1TB of data with 6 virtual machines.

One setup we have in mind is below. Please could somebody take a look at it below and suggest whether this is a suitable setup or another setup is possible using Veeam?

Many Thanks

Server 1 - Onsite Server

Doing all of the work and hosting the 6 VMs.

Server 2 - Onsite Server

A replica of Server 1 but located in another part of the office (replicated to every few minutes). If something happened to server 1, we could fire up server 2 and use it instead.

Server 3 - Offsite Server

This server is offsite and Veeam backs up to it overnight. If something happened to our main site and we lost both servers, Server 3 could be started up and people could work from home while the main site is recovered.

Hello Daniel,

Your scenario sounds reasonable. Can you please tell me where your Veeam backup server will be installed? As to the offsite server, what kind of repository is it going to be or you are planning replicate your VMs offsite?

Thank you!
