Creating repo for Veeam-Oracle plugin

Post by andyboy16 »

Hello there,
We are trying to use a different repository for our Veeam-Oracle Plug-in, but for some reason I can only see one our of SOBR repo. I've setup a dummy test NFS repo, and the plugin is not able to see the NFS repo either. Does the plugin only see SOBR repo's? From this article, it states that it can use NFS. From a simple test, I've installed the plugin on the veeam server and tried to configure it but the plugin can only see one SOBR repo. I'm on V11

I have multiple repo's and two SOBR's

Do you have configured the access permissions on the nfs backup repo for the rman plugin? The user, which you have used in the first step of the wizards needs to be allowed to access the nfs backup repository.

As far as I know, the plugin needs to be installed on the oracle server and not on the veeam backup server.

To be able to use Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN, you must install the plug-in on the Oracle server and configure the plug-in settings:

Thank you! I can see the NFS share now by granting access to that NFS. As for the SOBR, I still can't see the other SOBR. In that one SOBR, I have to performance tier in there, wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Your welcome, I‘m glad it helped.
Have both SOBR configured the access permission?

SOBRs should not behave any different depending on how many performance tiers are added.
You can read more about the SOBR support for the rman plugin here:

Your welcome :)
Sorry, one more question. We have have a SOBR setup with two performance tier, how can we tell the Veeam-Plugin to use a specific Performance tier? When I see the SOBR in the Veeam Plugin setup, it only shows the SOBR and I can't select a specific performance tier to use.

The purpose of a SOBR is to let veeam choose the best extend available. You cannot choose an extend by yourself.

You can find out more about how veeam chooses the extend on the rman Plugin - Veeam Backup Repositories link i have posted. Backup File Placement depends on the backup file placement policy you have configured in the sobr.

Hello,

By the way, the logic of Performance Policy for plug-ins is described in the second paragraph of this section.

Thanks!
